Gainsight vs Supportman

Gainsight tracks the account. Supportman tracks the problem.

Gainsight is a customer-success platform: account health scores, success plans, playbooks and renewal workflows, built to manage the whole relationship with a customer over months and quarters. Its 2026 moves (an MCP integration, an agentic "Agent Studio" stack, and a Salesforce partnership) point toward account-level retention intelligence, not per-conversation support quality.

Supportman works at a different unit: one customer's specific support problem, linked across every conversation about it, tracked until there is quoted evidence it is actually over. Today, live, that means real-time CSAT/DSAT in Slack and AI quality scoring on every closed Intercom conversation. Problem Episodes (in build) add the missing piece: knowing when a closed conversation didn't actually fix anything.

Account health vs. problem episodes

Different unit of measure, not a competing product.

With Gainsight

  • Tracks the whole account over time (health score, renewals, playbooks), not a specific support problem
  • Custom, sales-led pricing with no public rate card
  • Built for customer-success teams managing a book of accounts, not support agents handling conversations
  • A resolved case rolling up into account health isn't the same as confirming the customer's specific problem actually went away
  • Implementation and CS-team rollout, not a two-minute connect

With Supportman

  • Built for Intercom support teams, connect and go
  • Published per-user pricing from $5/user/mo
  • Real-time CSAT & DSAT alerts in Slack
  • AI quality scoring on every closed conversation
  • Problem Episodes (in build): a durable record of one problem, not the whole account
Price comparison

Gainsight vs Supportman pricing, side by side.

Gainsight does not publish pricing; it is sold through sales as a customer-success platform, typically scoped to number of managed accounts or CSMs. Supportman is a support-team tool, not a CS platform, priced per user and listed on the site: $5/user/mo for the Slack loop, $15/user/mo with AI evaluations.

Straight talk

When Gainsight is the better pick.

Gainsight is built for customer-success teams managing renewals and expansion across a portfolio of accounts, and its account-health scoring, playbooks and now agentic retention stack are strong for that job. Supportman is not trying to become a CS platform, and it isn't a substitute for one. The two are complementary: Supportman's job is confirming whether a specific customer's support problem actually resolved; a natural next step (not built yet) would be surfacing that signal inside a tool like Gainsight rather than competing with it.

FAQ

Gainsight vs Supportman, answered.

Q.01

Is Supportman a competitor to Gainsight?

No. Gainsight tracks account health over the life of a customer relationship (CS-managed accounts, renewals, playbooks). Supportman tracks a specific support problem across conversations until there’s evidence it’s resolved. They operate at different units and are complementary rather than substitutes.

Q.02

Could Supportman send data into Gainsight?

Not today. Supportman's stated direction is to export problem-episode health upward into CS and CRM tools like Gainsight rather than build a competing account layer, but that integration is not built yet.

Q.03

How is Gainsight priced compared to Supportman?

Gainsight is sold through sales with no public price card. Supportman is public: $5/user/mo for notifications and reports, $15/user/mo with AI evaluations, free trial, no credit card.

Q.04

Does Gainsight tell you if a customer's problem actually got fixed?

Gainsight rolls up support activity into account health, but health scores aren't the same as confirming, from later conversations, that a specific problem is actually gone. That's the gap Supportman's Problem Episodes (in build) are meant to close.

Q.05

Is Supportman self-serve?

Yes. Connect Intercom and Slack and you are live in under two minutes, no sales call, no credit card.
