Zendesk vs Supportman

The independent check on Zendesk's own AI outcomes.

Zendesk also sells Zendesk QA (formerly Klaus) as a separate add-on — see our dedicated Zendesk QA comparison.

Zendesk bundles AI agents with outcome-based billing for automated resolutions, on top of Suite plans that already include QA (as a separate add-on), workforce management, and reporting. What it doesn't ship is an opinionated way to track one customer's problem across tickets and flag when a "solved" ticket reopens.

Supportman is Intercom-native today, not a Zendesk integration. If you're comparing the two, it's worth knowing what Supportman is building: Problem Episodes, a persistent record of a customer's problem that stays open in spirit even after a helpdesk marks it closed, alongside real-time Slack alerts and AI quality scoring that are already live for Intercom teams.

What ticket closure doesn't tell you

A closed ticket isn't the same as a solved problem.

With Zendesk

  • AI agent outcome billing rewards a closed conversation, not a confirmed fix
  • No documented cross-ticket "same underlying problem" object
  • QA lives in a separate add-on (Zendesk QA, formerly Klaus), priced and configured on its own
  • Suite pricing runs $55 (Team) to $115 (Professional) per agent per month before AI agent usage
  • Zendesk support isn't available in Supportman yet — see the note below

With Supportman

  • Real-time CSAT/DSAT alerts to Slack on every closed Intercom conversation
  • AI quality scoring (IQS) against your own rubric, not the platform's
  • Building Problem Episodes: linking a customer's conversations into one tracked problem, evidence-quoted
  • Published per-user pricing from $5/user/mo
  • Self-serve, live in minutes — on Intercom, today
Price comparison

Zendesk vs Supportman pricing, side by side.

Zendesk's Suite plans run $55 per agent per month (Suite Team) to $115 (Suite Professional) on its pricing page, with AI agents included in core plans and outcome-based billing layered on top for automated resolutions. QA itself is a separate add-on. Supportman is a single published per-user price with nothing else to buy.

Straight talk

When Zendesk is the better pick.

Zendesk is a mature, full helpdesk platform: ticketing, workforce management, knowledge, and reporting at real scale, with AI agents built in. If you need that breadth, it's a strong, well-supported choice, and Zendesk QA (formerly Klaus, covered separately) is a capable add-on for formal QA programs. Supportman isn't a helpdesk. It's a focused layer for Intercom teams who want everyday quality signal and, in build, per-customer problem tracking, without adopting a new platform.

FAQ

Zendesk vs Supportman, answered.

Q.01

Does Supportman integrate with Zendesk?

Not yet. Supportman is Intercom-native today. Zendesk support is on our roadmap — it's one of the platforms we're prioritizing next — but we don't have a committed date.

Q.02

Is Zendesk QA the same as Zendesk?

No. Zendesk QA (formerly Klaus) is a separate, per-agent add-on for structured QA, sold on top of a Zendesk Suite plan. This page compares Supportman to Zendesk the helpdesk platform; see our dedicated Zendesk QA comparison for the add-on.

Q.03

Does Zendesk track whether a closed ticket comes back?

Not as a documented, opinionated feature. Zendesk's AI agent outcome billing counts automated resolutions, but there's no public cross-ticket object that says "this new ticket is the same problem as that one."

Q.04

How much does Zendesk cost compared to Supportman?

Zendesk lists Suite Team at $55 and Suite Professional at $115 per agent per month, with AI agent usage billed on top. Supportman is public: $5 per user per month for notifications and reports, $15 per user with AI evaluations.

Q.05

What is Supportman building for teams like this?

Problem Episodes: a persistent record that links a customer's conversations about the same issue, classifies the outcome with quoted evidence from the transcript, and flags when it's still unresolved, came back, or was promised and forgotten.

Q.06

Is there a free trial for Supportman?

Yes. Connect Intercom and Slack and you’re live in under two minutes, no credit card required.
